Toys bring immense joy to children. The MPA committee in an effort to show our love and care to the deprived children in a more tangible way, decided to organise a toy collection project so that we can donate these toys to the Paediatric departments of Hospitals Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Kuantan and Hospital Mentakab, Pahang.

Letters were sent to paediatricians and MPA members for donation of old or new toys and / or cash. The toy collection begun on a modest scale with second hand toys collected from patients and doctors. The toys were washed and checked to ensure good condition. Even the "tired" looking second hand teddy bears, soft toys came to life after a wash in the washing machine. Response was encouraging with a total of RM 600.00(total) donated by Datuk Dr Sham Kasim, Dr Nazeli Hamzah and Dr Fadzillah Hj Ghazali, several huge boxes of toys in good condition and some books donated. GSK donated 10 new soft dragon toys. MPA beefed up the donation by giving RM2,000.00 to purchase large toys eg. a slide and swing. The toys will be presented to needy playrooms at Hospitals Tengku Ampuan Azfan and Mentakab during the 23rd MPA Annual Congress. We aim to improve on our efforts next year and hope many of our collegues will be able to collect toys on our behalf and send them to the MPA secretariat or donate new toys and / or cash to purchase toys. At the end of the year the toys will be distributed to needy Government hospitals.
