Welcome to the MPA website.  This website is the result of about four years of aspiration and an appropriate entrance to the new century.  With the information and communication technology craze occurring all round us every day, the MPA cannot afford to be left behind.  The prototype of the website was started by Dr Syed Zulkifli Zakaria in 1997 but it did not progress.  We are fortunate that Dr Iean Hamzah Sendut was willing to spend hours of his limited time in between his busy private practice to restart the project and come up with the current functional and colourful site.

The aim of our site is to record the history of the MPA, increase the contact of the society with the members and to provide a platform for our many educational activities. We also encourage feedback so that the society will continue to grow and promote child health in a more efficient and productive manner.

The site has many sections. On the left is a section for the president to ventilate his thoughts, membership applications, a bit about our secretariat,  fellowships and awards (The Dr Siti Hasmah Research Award) available to members. Below this is data on our yearly conferences and meetings. Lastly the community activities for the year is high lighted. In the middle are excerpts from the Annual Scientific Congress and the slide data from the Paediatric Infectious Disease Lecture Series. The PID Lecture series is on MS Powerpoint so that you can view the actual slides the lecturer presented during the meeting (if you missed it). On the right are issues brought up in the press, the nurses book "Masalah Pediatrik Untuk Jururawat", a historical perspective and information from APPSSEAR. We welcome articles / comments to further enhance the website.

We hope that the website will benefit more members and be a focus of chats among all paediatricians once we get the e-group set up.  Our history will be properly archived and be available for all to access.  There will also be special pages on information for the public and regular updates.  Information to members will also be made quicker.  At present, the website is open to all, members and non-members, but we shall be having a members-only page in the future.  Lectures and excerpts from congresses will also be available to download for doctors and nurses keen on distance learning. 

There are bound to be errors on this site and I hope readers will bear with us as we proceed to modify the site over time. Please inform us of any errors you may spot on this site. Be patient whilst we rectify the errors. All readers are advised to read the disclaimer on this website.

Lastly, I would like to congratulate all those who have helped with establishing this website, especially Dr Iean Hamzah Sendut.
